i am sure you have stories as well of elders being a hard ass on many, yet turning a blind eye to the 'sins' of their own family or close connections.

Happens ALL the time. There is a person in our family with a heavy drinking problem. Has been disfellowshipped for the same 2x previously; reinstated a few months back, but the drinking to the level of passing out often hasn't stopped. The wife is the perfect reg pioneer. All in our family know it and nobody will turn him in.
There is no justice whatsoever in this religious org. Is there justice in any man-made org?

born in 1970, 4th generation jw and parents who were loyal to but could also think on their own.. my father always said, the show goes on, so he had a respectable community job, advisor of the city counsel of the town.
and buying ald building houses for us.
we were on the move.. what i remember is the many conversations at home about the other witnesses.
3rd gen JW. Happy childhood overall; parents supported me in going to college. I did the pioneering thing for a bit, but ever since the 1995 overlapping gen silliness, the WTBTS is irrelevant know my book.
"Blah, blah, blah..." is what every meeting sounds like, the ones I attend.
All things considered, it's quite alright at the Spanish JW way of life. Love my family, friends and acquaintances.

it often went along with "the truth is a protection" which is their way of saying "living a moral life is good for you ... and you can't do that without us".. but think about what people are really saying.
i think the real message is "i know it's not the truth, but i chose to follow it anyway".. it seems like a pre-emptive argument because they know they can't defend it as "the truth" so instead they switch to defending it as a lifestyle.. of course any kind of lifestyle that has a decent moral ingredient to it, respect for law and order, discipline etc... probably increases people's chances of doing better in life, but they don't have a monopoly on it.. so just remember, next time you hear someone saying "even if it's not the truth" what they are really admitting is that they already know it isn't..

What the heck is "the truth" in ANY case, religious or otherwise. It's all relative and ever changing.
No matter your circumstance, make a conscious decision to be joyful.
After a nice family dinner, I'm feeling quite alright and thankful with my lot in life. Wishing the same for you all.

keep in mind that this is the most important night of the year for the witnesses.
it is supposed to be all about jesus christ.
I find most songs at the KH unmelodious, just awful sounding, and more so the new songs; even with the new symphony style music, still ugly.

I truly enjoy the community, the gatherings. The Spanish cong is a lot of fun; just a different lifestyle.

perhaps i missed the comments, but i did not see a lot of comments from, or about, the memorial.
it happened last night, right?.
in years past the jwn board was hot with comments.
Uneventful. People looked nice, but not heavily interested with the occasion. It's become like the Catholic Easter gathering, simply a time to dress up and go out to dinner afterwards.

this was the first memorial that i declined to do any work for the memorial.
i was assigned as a parking attendant after getting downgraded from doing the sound and had no intention of doing either task but i had to attend for my family and continuation of my fade.
i sat there last night listening to the talk and couldn't help but shake my head as my brain attempted to process the bs.
Here's my take on it: PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF THE SAME NONSENSE FOR SOOOO FREAKING LONG!!!
People are just fed up and waking up in droves. This religious Org is becoming just like the Catholic Church... very present but irrelevant at the same time.
It was so very at the KH last night. People were just not impressed.

i realize that someone well on in years would think twice about it, but, what about you younger ones?
